SOOO would have done this in college!!!

Funny!

Wanted Wednesdays: Mos Def

I don't know what it is about this guy, but I think he is too cute! He's like cute in a funny looking way. He looks like a rodent or something and he talks with a lisp, but I still like him. Mos Def (Dante Terrell Smith) hails out of Brooklyn, New York and is most popular for his lyrical skills. Contrary to what most people think, Mos was actually an actor first. He went to NYU briefly and studied theatre and was a sidekick on the short lived Bill Cosby sitcom, The Cosby Mysteries. Somewhere along the path of his life he met one of MY favorite rappers, Talib Kweli (Tah-Lib Qua-Lee) and formed Blackstar; one of hip hops most prominent underground hip hop groups. He has been nominated for several Grammys and even an Emmy as Best Actor for his moving role in Something the Lord Made, which was based on a true story. Whether you find him attractive or not, don't you dare judge him.

Oh! And whiles he's not too much of a political activist, He's not another dumb rapper!

...and the card attached would say...

Thank you for being a friend”! Over the weekend tvland sitcom enthusiast lost one of televisions funniest actors: Beatrice “Bea” Author. Bea ( not to be confused with another “Bey”) has a long television and theater history from Fiddler on the Roof to Maude or most notably, her role as Dorothy on the NBC classic Golden Girls. The vibe and energy she brought to the show (along with the others) was honored by several Emmys. We all love and enjoyed the show. I mean, as a woman, no matter the age, you can identify with at least one of the characters. We’ve all been a little promiscuous at times, we’ve all had “clueless” moments and we’ve all had to use sarcasm (my specialty) to get a point across. Because these characteristics are so identifiable, it made us love these characters on another level. Now granted, when I was watching this show as a youngin, I didn’t really know what was going on, but now when I hear Blanche use phrases such as “Better late than pregnant” I cant stop laughing. I can honestly say, Golden Girls, Martin, and maybe one or two other shows are the few that can make me literally LAUGH OUT LOUD. Oh how I wish they could bring back comedies with senior citizens. There is no way in hell that show would survive today. These days seniors are the new “token”. You either have an elder in the show (usually a parent or nosy neighbor) or you have a black character (usually a friend, the mail man or officer). These four women made it work. Now, I originally wanted this post to be about Bea, but even with her countless history of work, I’m only familiar with Golden Girls, respectfully. A golden show that wouldn’t have worked without any of these women. Geesh, now I feel a little bad because my brother used to say Bea could have been Ronald McDonald. It wasn’t nice, but he meant no harm. But I found it to be hilarious. So I dedicate this blog to you Bea and this song. And while I was a little heart broken to hear she has moved on, as my wise friend said “ Don’t be sad....she had a full life…she was golden…” Yes, I know that was cheesy, but I like cheese! Let us not judge Bea, but have a moment of silence. RIP 1922-2009.

Now, I leave you with some of my favorite Dorothy quotes:
1.Rose:Can I ask a dumb question?
Dorothy: Better than anyone I know

2. Blanche: I can't believe you said that! Oh if I weren't a lady I'd deck you.
Dorothy: You try and I'll have you on your back so fast you'll think you're out on a date.

3.Rose: Well, I'm here if you want to pick my brain.
Dorothy: Rose, honey. Maybe we should leave it alone and let it heal.

Throwback Thusday: HAY

With the unofficial underground holiday passing us by (4/20), I think it is only appropriate for us to pay homage to some guys who really put the Chi on the map:Crucial Conflict! Remember when you heard these guys for the first time? "That's Bone Thugs & Harmony"! " No it's not"! "They sound like Bone"! HA! Yall, know yall said the same thing! Regardless who they sound like, this song was a hit and guaranteed to make you start rapping along! Enjoy!

My First Video: Work Hard

Ironically enough, the song is called "Work Hard" and dangit Bobby, that I did. This was my first time, shooting, directing, and editing a music video. Actually I haven't done ANY of this stuff since...December '05(College)?? There is nothing too fancy about this video. I shot it with a hand held Sony DV cam that you can find in any electronics department of any store! I figured if I can shoot 2-3 more videos (film or music) I can start begging the Texas Film Committee for money so I can get one of those $3000 cameras!! This video stars Dallas rapper, S. POE and features B Rich. The track was produced by Kindall the Flame! Now, because this is my first video that is being exposed to the public, there is a 85% chance I will shoot you in the throat with a BB gun if you dare judge...unless your name is Benny Boom or Hype Williams!! Enjoy!
**P.S. My video Director name is The Knatt...cuz I'm fly!

Throwback Thursday: Do It Again

I never got the hook of this song until I lived it! In the hook Jigga raps, "12am on my way to the club..." and so on. Now, if you live anywhere but LA or NYC, you're not making your way to the club at midnight. If anything, your butt has been there since 10 and you're probably about to bounce soon!
I seriously think that this song and video put something in my brain that made me so infatuated with NYC. If this doesn't have that gritty New York feel to it, I don't know what does. Enjoy this weeks throwback Thursdays video. Get out the house like the chic in the video if you dare judge!

That Damn Yeezy

He raps about going hard, they say play hard or go home. Why not put the NBA's best with the raps best? Kanyes hit song, "Amazing" is the OFFICIAL NBA playoff theme song! Congrats Ye!

Wanted Wednesday: Amt bags

I'm not too familiar with this designer, but the print on these bags looks an awful lot like Louis Vuitton. But whatever! I think they are SOOOO cute! I would love to tote this around Miami (which is my summer vacation spot for the 09). I'm not sure on the cost of these bags, but I'm sure it's past my Sack and Save budget! Enjoy! And don't you dare judge this designer...even if he/she is biting off Louis Vuitton.

This is NOT a Game

It's actually THE GAME! One of my few must see shows behind, Scrubs and Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is. This show has a wonderful cast, hot guys and chics, but for some reason it's the only 30min show I watch the feels like 15 mins. But wait, theres more! The show seems so short because they're trying to cram 3-4 different stories in one episode, like a soap opera, if you will. But if this show can stay on another season, producer Mara Brock Akil ( producer of Girlfriends) is hoping they will turn this into a much needed 60 minute show. This show is falling under the radar and MAY be cancelled so they're trying their damnest to extend the contract! Whether you're a fan of the show or not, check out the video and go to the CW's message board and just say you want it to stay on the air. That's all! I've never really fought for a show before, but since the "MAN" done took away Girlfriends, I need my few minutes of drama and trash every now and then. Holla black and dont you dare judge what these people are doing!!

Throwback Thursday: One Wish

He went from being Brandy’s cute lil brother, to “Ain’t that Brandy’s brother?” to his actual name, Ray J. Admit it, we’ve been knowing his name all along, but he wasn’t Ray J until he put out that infamous video of him and Kim Kardashian working it like two up and coming actors on cinemax after dark. I mean, there’s no doubt that he’s cute in a high school crush kind of way and there is no longer any doubt that he has a…well you know…he’s worth checking out. But there is still something about him you cant take seriously. Even in this video. The rhythm is good, melody is on point, lyrics are on a jr high level and very contradicting (he asks for one wish, but each wish changes with the hook), but we were all jamming it. I still don’t understand why dancing and pulling on his too little black tee in the rain seemed like a good idea at the video shoot, but enjoys this week’s throwback video. And don’t you dare judge Brandy’s brother.
